On the opposite sides

Can one say

a. They tattoo one hand and one foot on opposite sides.
b. They tattoo one hand and one foot, on opposite sides.
c. They tattoo one hand and one foot which are on opposite sides.
d. They tattoo one hand and then tattoo the foot on the opposite side.
e. They tattoo a hand and then the foot on the opposite side.
?

I am really suspicious of (a). I feel it might be interpreted to mean 'on each side'. It would be a silly interpretation, but my feeling is that that is what the sentence is saying.

Many thanks.
