Grammar

on the job ?

I don't get dirty on the job?
What's the meaning of "on the job"? Why not use "in the job"?

Top answer

"On the job" is the usual, idiomatic way of saying "doing my job". "In the job" is not idiomatic and always sounds wrong. You can also be "on a job", if your job consists of individual "jobs".

Kris' reply is correct. You could, however, say "in my work." Oh, the joy of prepositions!
