On the condition...subjunctive?

Should we say:

a) He spoke on the condition that his name would not be used in media.

OR

b) He spoke on the condition that he not be named in media.

My colleague insists that it should be b), but somehow, it is not "sounding" correct.

Top answer

Hi Both are fine actually, but I would change (b) by saying "He spoke on the condition that he would not be named in media"
