On the bus home

(1) I am taking the bus home.

(2) I am on the bus home.

I am sure (1) is correct. I rephrased (1) and wrote (2). Is (2) correct? Thanks a lot.

They're both correct but have slightly different meanings. #2 means that you are currently riding the bus which will take you home. #1 could have that meaning but more often would be interpreted as saying you INTEND to use the bus to go home at some time in the future.
