On the back burner

Hello,

just a simple question on an idiom:

Can my studies be 'on the back burner'? For example, if I haven't studied English for a while, I decide to put my English studies 'on the front burner'. Or do we use this phrase only when talking about plans?

Thank you for your answers!

Well, we don't use 'on the front burner' (though you could use it as a joke)-- only 'on the back burner' is an idiom. You can put any task or interest on the back burner, meaning that it will have low priority among your pursuits.
