"On" Question

Two sentences are featured below. Which one is correct, or are both correct?

"I would prefer her to spend her money ON me rather him"

"I would prefer her to spend her money ON me rather than ON him"

Both mean the same thing -- but I'd have written "I would prefer that she spend...", rather than "I would prefer her to spend..."

My ear doesn't accept this without than. You can leave out the on, but not the than, in my opinion. These are fine:

... spend her money on me rather than on him.< My preference.

... spend her money on me rather than him.
