On or of

-The thing the novel talks about is modernization's potential destruction __ mankind.

My opinion: of is the correct word, and on is wrong. If we want to use on, brought (=bring) should at least be put after destruction. Do you agree?

And we expect our members to be polite. Some of our most reliable members are not native speakers of English. Their knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary is better than that of some native speakers. I for one would be very unhappy if comments such as yours made these valuable members feel unwanted.
