on or in

Hi teachers,

1. The batteries on the remote are running low.
The batteries in the remote are running low.

2. The radio in your car is skipping.
The radio on your car is skipping.

I don't quite know to describe the meaning for #2 maybe like 'breaking up'. Can you rewrite it for me?
