On my way to buy soy sauce

There is popular saying in China. I would like to ask your opinion if the sentence make sense in English.

I 'm just a casual bystander on my way to buy soy sauce.

What the sentence wants to express is that I have nothing to do or say with what you are doing or saying.
Please help check if the sentence is correct grammatically and if it works. Thanks.

Sandy Ho..... I' m just a casual bystander on my way to buy soy sauce. Do you mean "bystander" or 'passerby'?

  • Sandy Ho.....
  • I' m just a casual bystander on my way to buy soy sauce.
  • Do you mean "bystander" or 'passerby'?
  • A bystander stops and looks while, strictly speaking, a passerby keeps walking.
  • (although the difference between the two is not necessarily great) With either choice, the grammar is correct.
