Hi, could someone tell me the meaning of this paragraph?:
'I had been a big fan of Ricky's, but that type of music was ON ITS WAY OUT. It had no chance of meaning anything. It was all a mistake. What was not a mistake was the ghost of Billy Lyons, ROOTIN' THE MOUNTAIN DOWN, STANDING 'ROUND IN EAST CAIRO, BLACK BETTY BAM LE BAM. That was the stuff that was happening.'
Thanks in advance, Jo.

Ricky's music was obsolescent. I don't know how Billy Lyons fits in to this, but I found a neat WEBSITE while googling for him.
