On / For

Hi,

I'm having trouble understanding the difference in meaning for these two setences.

1. The tickets can only be used on Sundays. (what does this one mean when using 'on'?)

2. The tickets can only be used for Sundays. (what does this one mean when using 'for'?)

Thanks!

The intention is the same. I'm surprised to see 'for'. It's nearly always 'on'.
