I saw you boarding the train. I saw you on board the train.
I understand the first sentence as "I saw you while you were getting on the train", and second sentence as "I saw you while you were sitting (on the seat) in the train". (Maybe I saw him from somewhere around the train in both the cases).
Please help me with this.
