On bended knee

I heard a news show where they said that Obama had bowed to the king of saudi arabia "with bended knee".
Should this be "with bent knee"?

"on bended knee" means in a kneeling, supplicant position. It is rather old-fashioned and formal. Bent is something with a crook in it.
