On (a) second thought...

Hello,

Is it okay to say "on a second thought" instead of "on second thought"? As far as I know, the article is usually omitted, but I found these:

- On a second thought, there's no real need.

- On a second thought, let's stay at home and watch a movie.

Of course, the inclusion of the indefinite article doesn't change much (if anything), but I think it might sound odd to quite a lot of people. What do you think?

Thank you.
