Ommission in sentence

Hello,

"I am attaching the file and sending the file to you"

How can I reduce it?

I am attaching and sending the file to you.

I am attaching and sending you the file.

I am attaching and sending the file.

Are these all correct?

Thanks.

If you are attaching it, then of course you are sending it. The file is attached. That's all you need to say, assuming the recipient knows which file you mean.

I'd use ' The file is attached.'

No need to give him a play-by-play.

Hi,

If you want to be briefer still, you could just say Here is the file.

It's not hard for the recipient to understand.

Best wishes, Clive

Thanks all for better sentences in terms of conciseness and clearer meaning.

By the way, I am also interested in the omission in the sentence structure.

If you could point out wether those sentences above are correct, I would really appreciate it.

I wouldn't use them but I just want to learn it to apply in case that I need.

Thanks all.

Do you mean the omission of the subject the secont time? That's very, very common.

  • I brushed my teeth and went to bed (not knowing my lottery ticket was a winner until the next day).

  • She wiped her eyes and turned to face him.
The repetition of "the file" made it unnatural (even if attaching and sending were't the same thing).

To be clear, I am writing them here again.

"I am attaching the file and sending the file to you"

Can I reduce the sentence above to avoide repetition of "the file" as follows?

"I am attaching and sending the file to you."

"I am attaching and sending you the file."

"I am attaching and sending the file."

Part of the problem is your original sentence. If you intend to write that sentence in an e-mail, for example, then it is completely unnecessary to add "and sending the file to you" or even a reduced form of that. GG also mentioned this problem, and I assume that is also the reaso
