Omitting the subject in that clause ?

Please look at the following sentence.

" Recently our team was informed that will be joined to another team."

The writer on the sentence answered to me, since the subject was the same, so he could omit the subject in that clause. Is his words right in grammar ?
Could you tell me for it more clearly ? I think it's wrong sentence.
Yes ! if he use "that" as pronoun, it's right. but it's a little odd.
