Omitting "The"?

The die block assembly shown in Figure 1 consists of two machined block sections, .....
It houses the eight code punch pins and the smaller feed punch pin in nine finely machined guide holes.

Can you omit the second "the"? (But I think it says "pins" and "pin", so it may need "the".)
