Omitting one or two words from [in the bathroom and in the living room]

I have made up the sentences below.

(1) There is a lot of garbage in the bathroom and in the living room.

(2) There is a lot of garbage in the bathroom and the living room.

(3) There is a lot of garbage in the bathroom and living room.

Most of my non-native English speaking friends think they are all correct. Only a few of my friends disagree. Please help me. Thank you very much.
