Omission of 'to'

Hi,

Is leaving 'to' out obligatory in such sentences as:'I prefer to go to the beach rather than (to) stay at home'?

Top answer

No, it is not. In both "to go" and "to stay," "to" is the infinitive marker, as I'm sure you know.
