Omission of ‘measuring’

“Pollachius pollachius is a large fish up to 130 cm in length and weighing up to 14 kg.”

I assume the sentence above should read, “... a large fish measuring up to 130 cm in length and weighing up to 14 kg.” and only then could be ‘measuring’ and ‘weighing’ in a parallel structure.
While the writer of this sentence above, of which the web source seems to be reliable, left out ‘measuring’, do you, natives, agree on this omission? If so, please explain me with what kind of grammatical ground this omission has been possible.
