Some people opine that tourism will destroy the traditional society whilst others hold the opinion that the only way to rehabilitate their traditions is by attracting more tourists. My view on the matter is the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. I shall discuss both sides of the argument.

On the one hand, tourism can bring a significant benefit to many countries. To begin with, it may help to preserve certain cultural traditions. Because several historical buildings can be rebuilt or repaired to meet the demand of many tourists, to catch their eyes so that it can appeal more people from around the world. In addition, the tourism industry can work out the urgent issue is unemployment. As an example of people can make a living from the tourism services is hotels, car rental agencies, restaurants which supply traditional dishes in this place and organizing some cultural activities to impress tourists.

On the other hand, despite the above-mentioned merits, the tourism industry may have some drawbacks. Firstly, the cultural traditions can lose their features. As a large number of living habits and festivals were changed to comply with the growing requirements of visitors. For example, local people decorate their houses and historical building in a trendy way which is the symbol of losing cultural tradition. Another point worth noting have they changed their traditional recipe of cooking to satisfy tourists’ tastes which consequently may lead to food cultural destruction.

To sum up, tourism on the purpose of making money and appealing to visitors can damage the cultural traditions in some aspects but we still make good use of it and preserve our traditions at the same time.
