On the street, it's obvious that Beijing has tranformed into a police city. Bags are searched thoroughly, suspicious pedestrians are stopped and questioned, thousands of surveillance cameras has been installed throughout the city, and many more precautions. This is definitely not what the Olympic committee envisioned when it awarded the game. In fairness, the tight security is partially due to real security threats. In recent weeks, two major terrorist attacks has been carried out in China, killing dozens of people.
