Old fashioned word?

Would anyone say that "absurd" is an old fashioned word in comparison to "ridiculous"?

According to this link, both words are less commonly used than they were 200 years ago.

In the US "absurd" would be considered formal and stuffy. "Ridiculous" is much more often heard.

I think that some young people today say 'ridiculous' when they mean very good!
