Okie Dokie

Is the slang "Okie dokie" often used in daily conversation? I've come across it in a cartoon but I'm not sure it's actually used in real conversation:) Thanks in advance!

Not really, though I do hear it once in a great while.

Only one of my friends has used it recently. It tends to be something you hear more often from primary school-age children.

I have two friends, both in their mid sixties, who say it.

Now that it has been mentioned, I've heard it from three more people this week, two Americans and one Brit (who has lived in the US for a number of years).

I think it is a bit dated and also idiolectic. My mother (who would be 95 this year) used it daily; I eschew it myself.

You will also hear it used with "then."

Someone makes a firm statement - it's completely clear where they stand on an issue. Such a strong stance may not have been asked about or be justified.

"Ice cream is Satan's work! You should never have it!"
"I"m not inviting Mary to the party. She's a ***!"

Well,,, okie-dokey, then. I guess we all know your feelings on that i

A footnote: You sometimes hear "Augie Doggie" as a tongue-in-cheek euphemism for "okie-dokie", as if "okie-dokie" needed to be euphemized. Even more irrelevant, except that it is Father's Day, is the fact that there is a cartoon character by that name whose father is "Doggy Daddy".
