OK to use the modal verb "would" here?

Hi. Please help me with this. Is it correct to use the modal verb "would" here when there doesn't seem to be a question requesting (?) a response with the modal verb "would"?

(talking on the phone confirming a person's coming to another person 's dinner party.)

A: Hi, John. Did you get my email? Are you going to come to my dinner party? I need your confirmation so we can reserve a seat for you.

B: Yes, I would.

Top answer

No, 'would' is odd and undecipherable there. Yes, I am. Yes, I certainly would like to.
