When I got down to dinner my dad was looking very despondent. Apparently it was all just for me because my mom had called and told him that Tony had broken up with me. It was just pathetic because I knew that he was happy on the inside that I wasn't with him anymore.
Is "apparently it was all just for me" ok here? I'm aware it's informal. And the rest?
I appreciate it. Thank you.
All of it is informal in tone. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. It depends on why you are writing this and who is going to be reading it.

My dialect does not permit "when I got down to dinner". I would put it "when I came down for dinner".
