Hello, could you help me with the following sentence? First of all, is this sentence grammatically OK? Second, is the noun 'oiler' OK?? Well, the thing is I haven't found it in any English dictionary and have failed to find a good substitute for it. The only place where this word comes along is a Rus-Eng dictionary.... And how about 'metallurgist'?
Every affluent Siberian oiler or metallurgist from the Urals buys flats for himself and his relatives in Moscow and also goes there for shopping.
Thanks for your help!

Hi, First of all, is this sentence grammatically OK?
Yes Second, is the noun 'oiler' OK??
My dictionary has it as 'someone who oils machinery'.
However, I think the meaning here is 'someone who works in the oil industry'.
In Canada, we say 'an oilman / oilwoman'.

Thank you for the answer, Clive! I think 'an oilman' is absolutely ok in this context. I guess there are very few if any oilwomen in Russia. Discrimination. Sort of....
