Oil spill/escape/leak/leaking/leakage

The entire coastline was closed to the public after the oil spill polluted the water.

Hi,

Is it the same to say "oil escape, oil leak, oil leakage, and oil leaking" instead of "oil spill" in the above? Thanks.

'Oil spill' is the only natural collocation for this recent catastrophe. Among your others, 'oil leak' and 'oil leakage' refer to smaller problems. The other two sound odd to me.
