Vocabulary

"Oh, my God/goodness!" expression.

Hi, people, I have some question. I have heard that women prefer use "Oh, my God", but guys should avoid to say that. And as alternative it can be used "Oh, my goodness". I asked my Russian friend about that, but he said me that I said bullsh*t. But I have a feeling that I really heard about that.

Thanks for ability to be heard.

Hi, I see no truth at all in that advice. Perhaps the real meaning was that women are often encouraged to express emotion, whereas men are often discouraged. Clive

Oh, you said that you have never heard how male say "bye, bye". I said several time after conversations with female. Is this gay phrase? Oh, sh*t.

I heard 5 years ago one Russian female speaker all time finished her conversations with this phrase. And now days I said the same. Shame on me.

"Oh my goodness"- this I heard when a commenter commented one fight of Mixed Martial Art

Hi,

Where I live, lots of men and women say Bye-Bye, or just Bye, and see nothing odd about it.
Informal, of course.

It seems to me that gays are males, too, so I don't think gays use it either. So no, it's not a gay phrase.
