Of/from

I'm only a few miles north of/from Pasadena.

Are both prepositions useable and interchangeable?

Thanks!

It almost always goes like this:

[I am / you are / we are / ...] a few miles [north / south / ...] of Pasadena.

But,

To reach my place, you have to [travel / drive] a few miles [north / south / ...] from Pasadena.

BE north OF (location)
TRAVEL north FROM (movement)
