Does "Off track" mean the same as "Off the track" from a idiomatic standpoint?

Thanks for the reply MM! I had actually posted this as an anonymous thread and was not able to find my post. I managed to find the first post eventually and Clive had gotten back to me. The sentence I had in mind was "I read too many articles on project and some of them put me off track". Did I convey that some of the articles deviate me from what I'm actually supposed to do?
