1)
Is the second sentence correct?

There are two guys: Peter and John. The mothers of these two know each other.

Shouldn't we use 's when we mean possession?

2) Do we always use the with ordinal numbers?

AnonymousShouldn't we use 's when we mean possession?
No. We usually do if a person is the possessor, but not if it creates an awkward construction like "these two's mothers".
We certainly don't use 's when the word itself is a possessive (my, our, his, etc.).
