of their very life and soul and being

The labor which workers sell is, unlike other commodities, a thing which is of their very life and soul and being.

Hi,
Is it right to interpret the latter part of the above as "a thing belongs to their very life and soul and existence?" Thanks.

'Belongs to' is not quite right. 'Comes from' or 'is a part of' are closer to the mark.
