Vocabulary

.. of the invasion

Hello,

I'm trying to paraphrase this sentence: "The people of Cracow successfully repelled the Tatar invasion."
Instead of the verb, I would like to use a noun. Can you please help me with it?
"The people of Cracow's successful .... of the Tatar invasion."

Thank you
