of it or for it?

I have two sentences here and not sure which two words to use in the second sentence.

'A car has hit a pole and was badly damaged. However, I can't say much about it, because I can't see the real damage of/for it.'

Of it or for it?

What if I'd change "see" with "know"?

'However, I can't say much about it, because I don't know the real damage of/for it.'

Still would be 'on it'?

I'd usually say 'damage to it'.
