What is the difference in meaning when you answer this question with "of course"?

Don't give in!
Of course.

The meaning is the same with both answers, for example:

A: "Don't give in!"

B: "Of course." (That is, it goes without saying that I will not give in.)

C: "Don't give in!"

D: "Of course not." (That is, I will most definitely not give in.)
