No! "negative affective style" seems to me to be a specialized term - part of the jargon of this discipline. It suggests to me "negative attitude" or "negative personality", but I know nothing about this field so I could be completely wrong. It could also mean "depression".

In any case you should look up "affect", the noun, to get a better idea of what this phrase is about. You should also consult some sort of reference book for this specialized field.

Lets go back to negative affective style.
I asked a psychology student about 'affective style' and they replied:

1. Why didn't you ask the same psychology student this question? As I have already said, I know next to nothing about this subject. All I can do is guess the answers to these questions. They are questions about psychology and the special terms used in psychology which only someone well versed in psychology would know. They are not questions about grammar!

2. Why didn't you look up "negative" in the dictionary? You would have found this:

From the information you have now, you can guess as well as I what "negative affective style" is. I suppose it's the way that hostile, pessimistic, and/or depressed people react emotionally to life in general. They react in a negative way. They are not exactly what we would call happy people.

The reason is, I was given this document for translation.I need to to it.ODD is a desease and EEG is a deevice for measuring ming performance.
A psychology(-chiatry?!) Msc student gave me this because she was tired of giving it to others for translation.You know, most iranians suck at english.some say why should they wate time learning english, some, english grammar.....
