Hello,

1. A butterfly is of different colours.

I know the construction after the liking verb as "be" e.g

a) A butterfly is big. (adjective, after liking verb)

b) A butterfly is an insect. (noun , after linking verb)

c) A butterfly is on the flower. (adverbial, after linking verb)

But what type of construction is the sentences (1)?

Hi, I'm not good at naming things, but it seems like 'an adjectival phrase, after linking verb'. Best wishes, Clive
