Odd Question?
If were writing a story and part of a speech where the person says:
'If I do say yes.'
or another example
'I wanted to ask them why.'
Would that be acceptable?

ryansamturnerWould that be acceptable?I wanted to ask them why is fine as is. The other one is just a single dependent clause, so you'll need to add more.
If I do say "yes", you'll have to promise that you'll be home before midnight.
