Octanorm system

Hi,
tomorrow I´ll have to explain my customer what a "Octanorm system" is, so I found on internet this interesting description http://www.spec-net.com.au/press/0311/oct_300311.htm

The problem is, that I don´t understand what do they mean by : "sided pole ". I had a look at the dictionary and it seems that "pole" is a kind of metal bar but I am not sure.
Could you please check the link ? There is a picture as well.

I would like to explain my customer this way: "The O.S is made by 8 white panels divided by sided poles"?

Thank you in advance
Pamela
