Hi,

As a man, here's my understanding, in basic terms.

obstetrician - a doctor for pregnant women

gynaecologist - a doctor for women's problems

But perhaps someone will offer a woman's point of view.

Best wishes, Clive

I think I prefer to think of the gynaecologist as taking care of women's health, not women's problems, but yes.

I believe every OB is also a GYN. Not every GYN chooses to be an OB (often due to malpractice insurance and the great likelihood of very irregular hours).
