objects in life

Does "objects in life" here mean "living objects" or "objects we have in our everyday life"? I think the latter is OK. What's your idea?

"Plato was sceptical about the value of art and artefacts which were, after all, only mere imitations of objects in life, themselves only feeble mimics of the ideal."
