Object + V-ing

Hi everyone! I was wondering if these sentences are grammatically correct:

1. The idea of them playing with fire is driving me crazy

2. With that being said and done, I think it’s best for us to do the best

What confuses me is that why are the objects in those sentences above are followed by V-ing? Can anyone please explain to me?

Thank you in advance
