Object pronoun for person

please help
is this sentence correct and please explain why or why not
especially concerning the object pronoun refers to the word "person"

the sentence is

"How do you think a person's job could help them write a story ?

I think you mean using "them" for the singular "person"?

The use of they, them, and their as gender-neutral, singular, third-person pronoun is well established, and almost always a more elegant solution than "him or her, he or she, or his or hers."
