What is an object of a preposition, I get confused whenever it happens.
As an example :
Metals expand on heating. ( in this example, is " on heating" an adverb or object of the preposition?)
Jennifer sits beside me in class. ( beside me: isn't it an adverb? what about in class? another question is why beside me comes before in class? )
Can you send this letter to her tomorrow? ( her is the object of the proposition? isn't to her an indirect object?)
Please help me out, I feel extremely devastated.
