Object

1.Genetic engineering sometimes entails the splicing of plant or animal genes into other species’ DNA.

2.Genetic engineering sometimes entails splicing plant or animal genes into the DNA of other species.

I guess verb entails demands an object (Noun). If so why is second one better than the first?
