3. This is a command. The subject is understood to be "You". never is an adverb.
4. Yes. Object.
5. No. The underlined part is the subject. There is no object in this sentence.

1. This is a clear threat to our security. object??? Strictly speaking, the verb 'be' is a linking verb and takes a subject complement rather than an object.
2. Sally completed the coursework in no time. object?? yes
3. Never say never again. subject?? No. The first never is an adverb. The second never is the object, because what you really mean is 'Never say the word 'never' again.'
4. You must always tell the truth. object?? Yes

5. A letter is here for you. object? There is no object. 'A letter' is the subject.

This is a cat.
What is the function of "cat"? It renames "this," and the verb is is a linking verb. So it is a predicate noun or predicate nominative (I don't know what term your book uses.)

2. Sally completed the coursework in no time. object?? yes

3. Never say never again. subject?? Is "Never" the name of a person? Can you write this?
* Mike say never again.
Think about the real subject. What is it? Hint: it is not written in the sentence.

4. You must always tell the truth. object??yes

5. A letter is here for you. object? Think about a similar sentence that is simpler:
I am here.
What is the function of "I"?

The subject does the action of the verb. The direct object receives the action of the verb. Look at these two sentences -

The dog bit the man.
The man bit the dog.

The subject and object are reversed.
What is the action? That tells you what the verb is: bite (past tense, bit)

What did the action? In the first sentence, the dog did it, so dog is the subject.
In the second sentence, the man did it, so man is the subject.
And what was hurt (received the bite)? You can answer this for each sentence!
