obedient

Don't yell at him or he'll become disobedient. We've been nice to him. But____ (he's still not obedient??)

I remember there's a phrase that native speakers normally say to dispute in situations like this but can't remember what. Any idea?
Thanks.

But he just won't listen? But he won't obey? But he's stubborn?

  • But he won't obey?

The situation is a person suggests you do something which has been proven wrong and he/she knows it. There's a general expression for it and it's quite sarcastic to my ear, implicitly.Another example.

A: If you pull the tub plug, the water will flow out.

B: I already did that. It's clogged (I need to add more sarcasm)
