"O" Interjection Commas

Please have a look at this traditional sounding line of poetry:

Drip, O, insatiable rain, keep pounding upon my heart!

Are the commas around "O" right there, given it is an interjection?

Thanks.

Oh, I see! Yes, I've seen that quite a few times, but wasn't sure what was most proper. But doesn't that make it a part of the name when you don't put a comma in front of it? Is "O" different in meaning than our more modern "Oh," for example, "Oh, John, John...what have you done?"
