o I logged the bug in the bug tracking tool against/on/towards the software

i found a bug in the software, i have to log the bug in a "bug tracking tool", so that the developer get to know about the bug and fix it.

How would i say?

It's a tracking tool for software, but I don't see why you need to mention that at all. 'Bugs' and 'bug-tracking' don't apply to much of anything else except software.
